Private Client News – LPA and Wills during lockdown

Posted by worthingtons in News

We have always had a flexible approach to meeting our clients’ needs by using all methods of communication in order to take instructions for Lasting Power of Attorneys and Wills.  We will strive to continue to do this and so we ask that you continue to contact us by telephone or email so we can discuss your needs further and decide how best we can meet those needs in a safe and secure way.

All Anti money laundering processes will still take place and we will need to obtain from you at the start of the matter identification documentation and evidence of address.  During the pandemic this can be scanned to us by email or original copies posted to us.  If you scan the documents to us, we will need to see the original document at some point or certified copies of the original documentation.  You will also sign the usual client care letter containing our Terms of Business.

We still need to assess testamentary capacity and establish a lack of undue influence and again, we can discuss this further over the telephone or on video conference.  We will send out a draft Will to you by email or post and you will then need to approve the same before a final version is ready for you to sign.  We can then discuss how you sign the Will as you will need two witnesses but there are various ways this can be undertaken in a safe and secure way.

The same principles are implemented for Lasting Power of Attorneys and we will discuss these options with you.  Please contact us through our Contact Form or Enquiry Page to discuss this further.
